Dementia Support

Alzheimer’s Society

The Beacon Health Group is committed to meeting the health and wellbeing needs of people living with dementia, their loved ones and their carers.

We currently provide Dementia Support Clinics, Referrals to voluntary services and Care Coordination home visits and are working closely with the Alzheimer’s Society in aspiring to make our surgeries Dementia Friendly GP Practices.

The Alzheimer’s Society provides a range of local support and services such as:

Telephone Support Call Dementia Connect on 0333 150 3456.  It’s free, easy to access, and puts you in touch with the right support, from local help to phone and online advice.

Side by Side - Whether you’re a movie buff or a morning jogger, our Side by Side service is here to help you keep on doing the things you love – and try new things too. You and your Side by Side volunteer meet up regularly, either virtually or face to face, decide what you’d like to do, and then do it together

Peer Support - Peer support groups give carers the opportunity to meet with others who understand some of what you are going through. Run by a facilitator, the sessions offer a chance for people affected by dementia to ask questions, get information and share experiences in a safe and supportive environment

Singing for the Brain - Singing for the Brain brings people together in a friendly, fun and social environment. Based around the principles of music therapy, the stimulating sessions include vocal warm-ups and singing a wide variety of familiar and new songs.

Activity Groups – The Alzheimer’s Society’s virtual and face-to face activity groups can give you the opportunity to take part in a fun, structured activity. The groups are run by an expert facilitator with relevant skills and are open to anyone affected by dementia.

Online Community - Talking Point is a helpful online community where anyone who is affected by dementia can receive valuable support. It's free, open day or night, and can be accessed online.
